My flat wart has turned black. What does it mean?

Been using dr scholls salicic acid pads. (40%) About the size of a pencil eraser. It cover the wart perfectly. Wart turn black after 3 days. Alittle sore to the touch. Should I stop applying the pads. I've heard once they turn black the treatment has done it's job
