What punctuation to use here? Ten points best answer?

I would use a comma before the quote, and the full stop comes after the closing quotation mark to end the whole sentence. If you are ending the quote then you don't need a full stop inside the quotes, the closing quotation mark is a sufficient halt to the quote, unless there is a need to keep the full stop for the sake of accuracy. In this latter case you would have two full stops, one inside the quotes and one outside it to end the whole sentence. Incidentally I'm using British English
